Puyallup Early Entrance to Kindergarten (PEEK)

Overview

Who is PEEK for?

The program is designed for early-age students who demonstrate advanced skills and are developmentally ready for a full-day kindergarten program.

Note: The PEEK Program is NO LONGER ACCEPTING APPLICANTS for the 2026-27 school year after March 31, 2026.

Is PEEK the best choice for my child?

When considering early entrance, families may want to reflect on the following:

  • Your child may be the youngest in the class, sometimes by up to a full year.
  • Early entrance is a long-term educational decision; your child will always be younger than their peers.
  • Some children may experience stress or anxiety if expectations exceed their developmental capabilities.
  • Research shows that social-emotional development is a strong predictor of early school success.
  • Important readiness skills include:
    • Making and keeping friends
    • Identifying and expressing emotions appropriately
    • Calming down when upset without harming others
